Search Acumen comments on HMRC property transactions, April 2017

Andy Sommerville, Director of Search Acumen, comments on HMRC Property Transactions April 2017:

“The decline in property transactions, 3.2% in residential and 7.2% in non-residential, witnessed between March and April 2017 is symptomatic of a market that is exercising great caution. The ongoing uncertainty surrounding Brexit compounded by the snap election called during mid-April has no doubt contributed to the slow-down in both commercial and residential activity. Many buyers, sellers and investors will have chosen to adopt a “wait and see” approach over the course of the past month.”

“Following the outcome of the general election, we expect the market will resume normal levels of activity in time for the traditional summer peak.”
