Places are filling up fast as conveyancers sign up to attend SLC Regional Roadshows

Those planning to attend one of the six regional conveyancing road shows, taking place at the end of this month and in early September are being urged to book now, as spaces are filling up fast. The series of road show events, being organised by the Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) will give those in the conveyancing community the opportunity to secure four CPD points, while also providing valuable updates across a series of industry related topics.
Subjects to be covered in the road show events have all been nominated by attendees, ensuring that each event delivers presentations and speakers that are directly relevant to the issues currently facing the profession. Representatives from each of the water companies that supply the areas where the events will take place have now been confirmed as speakers. They will be presenting to attendees about the recent adoption of private sewers and the implications for conveyancers — a much requested topic among SLC members.  Other areas to be covered are expected to include changes to the Building Regulations, the latest state of play regarding lenders’ panels and an update on the property Search Code.
John Clay, Chairman of the Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC), commented: “The regional events provide our members and the wider conveyancing profession with an opportunity to get valuable updates and insights on the key issues facing our industry. The feedback that we have had from previous road shows suggests that these events are a key tool in enabling conveyancers to keep up to date with any changes impacting on the profession. By running these afternoon events across the country we hope to reach out to a wide audience, making them accessible to all of our members and the wider conveyancing community. Bookings have been coming in steadily since the events were first announced and we would encourage those who wish to attend to get in touch and secure a place now to avoid disappointment.”
The sessions, which are free for SLC members, will offer attendees the opportunity to secure four Continued Professional Development (CPD) points. Speakers will include, Stephen Desmond, a seasoned trainer and presenter at CPD events, along with representatives from both the Council of Property Search Organisations (CoPSO) and the relevant water company serving the location where each event is held.
The SLC is of-course able to grant CPD points to all solicitors who would like to attend.
The road shows, which are sponsored by ETSOS, STL and PSG, will commence at 2pm and will run through to 6pm.
Attendance for SLC members is free. For those Licensed Conveyancers that are not members there will be a charge of £50 per person (refundable for those that join the SLC at the event). For non-Licensed Conveyancers, there will be a cost per head of £50.
