Legal Eye team continues to build with key appointment

Legal Eye are pleased to announce the appointment of their latest team member, Katie Jackson.

Joining as a Senior Compliance Manager, Katie brings to the team more than 15 years’ experience in legal services regulation and in-depth understanding of the risks which firms are exposed to.

Katie’s career in legal services began at the Legal Services Commission where she took prime responsibility for the delivery of legal aid in Northamptonshire. As well as enabling her to build a key awareness of the market, it also sparked her interest to explore other areas within the sector.

In 2005, Katie then went on to gain experience at the Law Society – which became the Solicitor’s Regulation Authority (SRA) where she was required to investigate a number of high profile cases. This ultimately led to her promotion to Technical Adviser, where she advised on the largest intervention ever undertaken by the regulator. Katie then moved on to become Strategy Manager at the SRA, where she co-authored the SRA Strategy 2011-2015, as well as policy papers on the implementation of the new SRA Handbook and Outcomes Focused Regulation.

Following her time at the SRA, Katie also started her own compliance consultancy, Honne.  Reflecting her commitment and dedication to the sector, this quickly became well known and regarded for its’ focus on interactive legal services training in compliance topics, as well as commentary on legal services regulation.

Katie then moved to the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) in 2014, where she was solo inspector/relationship manager for some of the largest conveyancing practices in the country. In this role, Katie advocated a new style of inspection for the CLC, focused in part on corporate risk management, including financial profitability and liquidity.

Whilst Katie’s appointment at Legal Eye will see the closure of Honne, Katie looks forward to providing compliance advice to Legal Eye clients and bringing her expertise to their training function.

Expressing her enthusiasm on the new position, Katie said: “It’s a real pleasure to join a team of committed compliance experts with an impressive focus on client care; I look forward to contributing to the team’s – and importantly clients’ – continued growth and success in a time of regulatory change”.
