Are industry conferences worthwhile?
Whether you’re a well established conveyancer or you’re brand new to the sector, conferences are something you will soon become accustomed to.
In any other instance, you’d class a day out of the office as a good thing. But where conferences are concerned, reviews tend to be somewhat mixed; Will it be worth our time? How much will we really get out of it? Are we going to make it through that four-hour train journey (there and back)?
The LFS Conference and Awards, sponsored by Groundsure, is more than just another event; featuring talks from industry experts, key networking opportunities and practical guidance for every part of the firm, this annual occasion is certainly not to be missed.
Rather than just re-covering topics which you’ve heard about umpteen times, the LFS sets out to provide conveyancers with guidance that they can actually take back to their desk and apply within the workplace. From key masterclasses on what’s new in the market to innovative marketing workshops, attendees will have the opportunity to refresh and update their knowledge on a range of topics both at a firm and personal level.
As if the practical guidance wasn’t enough, the day will feature insightful and engaging talks and discussions with a number of key speakers from the industry. Forget sitting down for an hour beginning to drift off, these talks are bound to make you sit up and take note – with confirmed speakers including resident economist Roger Martin-Fagg and ‘master of marketing’ Hamish Taylor, these talks will be far from boring. In addition, attendees will have the chance to share their views during our Referral Fees panel with Matt Prior of the Ministry for Communities, Housing and Local Government. As an incredibly influential figure in the Government efforts issue to improve the home buying process, this is certainly not to be missed.
There’s something for everyone
As the success of a conveyancing firm doesn’t depend on the efforts of one person, we feel it’s essential to include something that everyone from IT coordinators to fee earners will find useful. With the need to stay up to date with the evolving industry being greater than ever, it’s essential all aspects of the firm are ahead of the curve. For example, whilst it’s obvious that everyone will benefit from the opportunity to network and discuss key challenges with likeminded professionals, our IT forum – set to showcase the latest innovation in the sector – could be key to discovering a fresh way to enhance a firm’s productivity.
An awards ceremony
If you didn’t already know, the Conference is followed by the prestigious LFS Conveyancing Awards – where conveyancers from across the country get together to celebrate the achievements of firms and congratulate rising stars. It’s a great way to end an engaging and insightful day spent at the Conference.
Sharing his thoughts on the event was Angelo Piccirillo, Senior Partner and Co-founder of AVRillo, the overall winners of the ‘Best Website & Social Media’ category at last year’s awards.
He said: “AVRillo have been very privileged to have won many awards, but we count the LFS wins as some of most prestigious. It has helped our profile but also our staff engagement in knowing their hard work is recognised.
“We are very proud to have participated in many past events and the conference and the award night is one of the very best the industry has to offer. Tony and I have always been made to feel very welcome and we learn so much by open and frank discussions had at the tables. It’s a great way to share ideas, innovations and best working practices. For this reason alone, I would definitely recommend lawyers to attend.”
