Importance of planning searches for conveyancers hits home with the latest new build figures

With new figures released today by Department for Communities and Local Government revealing that the number of new homes has risen by 25% over the past year, conveyancing search provider, SearchFlow stresses the importance of conveyancers carrying out planning searches.

Greg Bryce, Managing Director of SearchFlow, comments: “These record figures, revealing the highest annual increase in a generation, are very positive for the property industry. But, it is clear that it is now more important than ever to address planning in your search to avoid any potential risk for both you and the homebuyer. The Government has put in place a number of initiatives to boost house building; such as the neighbourhood plan which puts powers in the hands of people, first time buyer schemes, planning reforms to support small businesses and the planning in principle initiative. However, in recent months, under the backdrop of increased house building development, there have been some high profile cases of law firms found to have failed to explain planning report findings, resulting in millions of pounds in pay out. At SearchFlow, we offer Plansearch Plus to your search packs, which will include the latest planning applications, land use designation and more general issues on the neighbourhoods such as rights of way, local schools and amenitities, to give you the added security of a complete and comprehensive report.”
