Strictly legal lawyer takes to the dance floor for St. Rocco’s Hospice

Legal chief Denis Stevenson of Rowlinsons Solicitors is set to swap the court room for the dance floor to help raise much-needed funds for St. Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington.
Denis, Senior Director at Frodsham-based law firm Rowlinsons Solicitors, is one of 10 amateur dancers who will participate in Strictly St. Rocco’s glittering sponsored dance competition, which will see all proceeds from the event going towards caring for patients at St. Rocco’s Hospice.
The event will pair the amateur dancers (5 women and 5 men) with 10 professionals and following weeks of training, each Pro-Am couple will perform in front of a live audience of over 350 people at a gala event hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips at Mere Golf Resort and Spa on Sunday 14th December 2014.
Denis comments: “I’ve always believed you can have fun while raising money for good causes, and this ticks all the boxes. Not only will I be raising funds for a very important cause, I’ll get to do it dancing.
“The event is going to involve a lot of practice and I have no doubt performing in front of 350 people will be daunting, but it will be worth it if we can raise some cash along the way for St. Rocco’s as the hospice provides a vital service to those who use it.
Denis goes on to say: “Dancing is a far cry from my day job, but lawyers are versatile, so the other competitors better watch out!”
St. Rocco’s Hospice has been supporting the families of Warrington for nearly 30 years. The hospice offers specialist care to patients with cancer and other life threatening illnesses, whilst supporting their families and carers too. It costs over £3 million each year to run the Hospice.
This is not the first time Denis and his colleagues at Rowlinsons Solicitors have gone the extra mile to raise money for a good cause. At the end of 2013, the Rowlinsons team raised £1016.00 for The Countess of Chester Hospital Baby Grow Appeal by dressing up as Santa Claus for the local Santa Dash.
In additional earlier this month, Denis successfully raised a further £562 for the Baby Grow Appeal by raffling tickets to a Gary Barlow concert.
The other nine amateur dancers taking part alongside Denis Stevenson in the Strictly St. Rocco’s contest are: Louise Taylor, Johanne Sutton, Emma Hutchinson, Lisa Foden, Kevin Walker, Ben Dunne, Lewis Smith, Bethany Cammack and David Keane.
