Residential property teams show expansion can be achieved

The residential property team at Napthens Solicitors have expanded their business by the appointing veteran solicitor, Zelda Gornall.

Gornall has recently joined the Preston-based company off the back of serving 15 years with regional law firm Birchall Blackburn; the majority of this time being spent working within the residential property sector.

The role that Gornall has acquired will see her acting on behalf of clients purchasing and selling properties, consultancy on all aspects of the conveyancing process including freehold and leasehold, shared ownership and new build properties.

It is reported that Gornall has arrived during a period of growth for Napthens’ residential property team, with multiple new staff members joining the department in the last year and the number of instructions at a record level.

Gornall is reported to have sung Napthens’ praises, in which she has mentioned how reputable the company is and how successfully it is developing.

Whilst some firms such as Napthens have indeed strengthened their legal force, many other conveyancing professionals are voicing their concern about the real shortage of top quality recruits. Some are also stating there is a dying urge to pursue a career in residential property law in particular.

Is it all doom and gloom?

With there being a shortage of newly qualified solicitors and legal executives opting to choose conveyancing as a career, there are other firms currently expanding and recruiting top quality conveyancers similarly to Napthens. Another recent example of expansion and growth is within the Midlands-based law firm Lodders. In recent weeks, Lodders have managed to secure the services of an experienced licensed conveyancer Rachel Phillips to join their residential property team.

These key appointments shed a glimmer of hope on the current availability predicament law firms face in terms of recruiting top conveyancers.
