Register Extract Service wins top prize

The development of the Land Registry’s new electronic service, Register Extract Service, has seen them win the top prize in the Delivering Business Value and E-Commerce category at the Real IT Awards.
The team picked up the top prize at the 8th Real IT Awards, beating organisations that included McDonalds, BUPA and SABIC Petrochemicals.
Land Registry Product Manager, Lynne Nicholson commented:
"The whole team was really proud at being nominated but to win the award in a category with so many prestigious companies is a fantastic achievement. This award reflects the feedback we have received from customers about our Register Extract Service which has revealed clear business benefits and efficiency savings that have exceeded our expectations."
Land Registry developed the service in a bid to be more customer focused and to enable delivery of products in ways that meet their needs.  The housing market recession has led to Land Registry looking at ways they can reduce costs while improving the quality of conveyancing.
Before the service was developed Conveyancers were required to order an Official Copy of the Land Register, inputting the information into their systems and, as with any manual process, this was prone to errors.  The solution, Register Extract Service, provides the data from the Land Register and is able to populate case management systems direct, reducing processing times and also “human error”.
Commenting on the service the Judges said:
“A great example of a win/win in providing value for both the Land Registry and their customers”.
