Properties lodged for registration grows during June

June saw a rise in the number of properties lodged for registration. According to HM Land Registry data, the total fell month-on-month by 4990.

Price Paid Data from HM Land Registry sets out the details of residential and commercial land and property sales in England and Wales. During June 2017, 92,009 sales were lodged for registration.

As well as the total number of lodged registrations, the data also specifies the type of property as well as the price paid.

Of those that were registered:

  • 20, 431 were detached
  • 23, 216 were semi-detached
  • 24, 673 were terraced
  • 17,390 were flats or maisonettes
  • 6, 299 were classed as other

Almost three-quarters of the property sales lodged during June were freehold (74%), a monthly proportional increase of 1%. The proportion of new builds, however, saw a month-on-month fall, declining slightly from 11% to 10% of total registrations. Where total sales were concerned, figures grew during June, up from 25,707 in May to 29,901 in June.
