Is social media important for conveyancers?

With less than a third of all conveyancers having both Twitter and Facebook pages, how important is social media to firms?

Today’s Conveyancer has carried out a survey of the top 100 conveyancers, as per the Land Registry Applications Data for July 2012.

We found that 54% of firms have Twitter pages whilst 40% have Facebook pages. 29% have both.

Of those with accounts several are not utilising the mediums. 4% with Twitter accounts have not tweeted whilst 2% with Facebook pages have uploaded no content.

1% of those with both have a blank Facebook page and have also not tweeted.

The three largest firms all have limited exposure.

Countrywide Property Lawyers the largest firm at 1486 applications has neither a Twitter nor Facebook profile.

My Home Move Limited and O’Neill Patient the second and third sized firms both have Twitter pages. My Home Move Limited has no Facebook page whilst O’Neill Patient has a page but no content uploaded.

What will happen in the future?

With firms across numerous sectors relying on Twitter and Facebook to engage their customer bases will conveyancers soon need to do the same?

Will firms with strong media strategies soon start to reap the benefits?
