Final day of the SRA consultation

Final day of the SRA consultation

Today (21 September 2016) is the deadline for submission of responses to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) open consultation.

The deadline for submission of responses to the first phase of  the SRA’s proposed to changes to the Handbook is the 21st September 2016.

As announced in November 2015, the SRA have confirmed that they would be reviewing the current Handbook and the consultation process would be done in two phases.  The current and highly anticipated review of the Handbook “Looking to the Future” – will be consulted upon for an unprecedented 16 weeks.

For the first time, the SRA are planning to radically simplify the Handbook, starting with revising the Principles and the Code of Conduct proposing two separate codes – a Code of Conduct for Solicitors and a Code of Conduct for Firms.

They are now consulting on the first phase of their proposed changes and are urging all lawyers wishing to take part to submit the online consultation questionnaire by 21 September2016. This is your chance to have your say.
