Conveyancing Association holds big debate on improving the home moving process

The Conveyancing Association (CA) will this week host its first All-Members Meeting of 2015 – where industry leaders will come together to discuss how the industry can work more closely together in order to improve the home buying and selling experience for all involved.

The roundtable event, which will take place in London on Thursday 12 March, will be the latest initiative in the CA’s campaign to make housing transactions a positive experience by improving interactions between the parties involved and ironing out the issues which cause the most delay and concern.

It follows the launch of the CA’s Best Practice Guide in December, which was designed to help improve communication between conveyancers and estate agents – the event will also see the publication of the results of the CA’s latest survey of conveyancers and estate agents, which aimed to identify the common problems each encounter during a home purchase or sale.

Amongst those attending the event are leading industry figures – including, Property Ombudsman Chris Hamer, Michael Garson of the Law Society and Jane Finch of the Moving Association

The ultimate objective of the campaign is to work towards providing customers with a better service when it comes to buying or selling a property.

Eddie Goldsmith, Chairman of the Conveyancing Association, said:

“At the CA, improving customer services in the property industry is one of our main goals and, in fact, one of the main reasons we exist. We can see from the results of the surveys that there are some major road blocks in the process.  We now need to work together to develop positive solutions to remove them. What’s clear is that the problems are too big for one organisation to solve on their own and it will need the whole industry to come together to make this possible.

“We are really committed to seeing this campaign through and coming up with some real, workable solutions to the problems estate agents and conveyancers are currently coming up against – and which, in turn, are causing delays to the home moving process and unnecessary stress to our customers. This week’s roundtable is, as a result, a really exciting step forwards on our mission to achieve this.

“Ultimately we hope that this campaign will inspire others to challenge the status quo – which in the property industry can often be quite outdated – and strive to make the home moving experience better for all those involved.”
