Christmas market homes jingle all the way

Christmas markets boost housing market, according to new research

Based on data surrounding 29 of the UK’s largest Christmas markets, research indicates the average house price in each location concerned was £98,681 over the current UK average, at £316,569.

eMoov, the online estate agent, ordered the locations of the festive markets in relation to average property price, listing the top ten locations in order of their affordability – from most to least.

Commenting on the data and what it could mean for sellers in these particular areas, was eMoov’s founder and creator, Russell Quirk:

“Christmas begins earlier every year, but the launch of Winter Wonderlands and Christmas markets across the UK signals the festive season is about to kick off. Although not everyone will welcome this news, it could certainly be beneficial for nearby home sellers with Christmas market property commanding a higher price tag than the rest of the nation.

“Ironic that perhaps the best known and most popular on our list is also home to the largest barrier for those aspirational home buyers that might wish to live there. But there are still many realistic options filled with festive cheer for those looking to buy [at] Christmas.”
