Average house prices continue to rise

September house prices rose 1.5% from August with the average house price in England and Wales reaching £167,063.

The latest Land Registry House Price Index showed an annual house price increase of 3.4%.

Unsurprising the region that has experienced the greatest increase in its average property value over the last 12 months is London where prices have increased 9.3%.

The only region which saw prices fall was Wales which saw a decrease of 1.7%.

During July 2013, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased 17% to 69,140 compared with 59,141 in July 2012.
