What do the speakers have in store?

Gary Miller, Head of Channel at Groundsure, is giving a presentation at the Law Firm Services Conference on Thursday (17th) – he told Jane Common what conveyancers can expect.

Have you spoken at the LFS conference before Gary?

“I’ve given talks at the LFS regional events but not the national one so this is a first. Previously our Managing Director Dan Montagnani has presented Groundsure’s talk, but he’s hosting the awards in the evening this year. I’ve attended most years, with the exception of last, when I had a little boy on the way during the week of the conference.”

Is there anything in particular conveyancers should listen out for in your presentation?

“In general I’ll be talking about how we can make conveyancers’ lives easier when undertaking search reports and in particular I’ll be talking through Groundsure’s new products and services. So, for example, one of our new products – PlanVal Capital Allowance – relates to Law Society guidance on capital allowances and is very important for conveyancers to be aware of.”

Why is sponsoring the conference and awards important to Groundsure?

“Groundsure has been present every year since the conference started and now we’re very proud sponsors – from our point of view it’s a great way of bringing conveyancing firms and search providers under one roof. There are always good question and answer sessions and a bit of debate and buzz – and it’s enjoyable as well. So it’s about talking to our channel partners on the day and making solicitors aware of our new products and services – building relationships.”

What exactly does your role as Head of Channel at Groundsure involve?

“I manage a team of account and business development managers who are based around the country and are responsible for supporting our reseller partners in the UK. But, as much as I’m manager, I’m still very much on the coal face with the guys and, very important from my perspective, is that I have senior strategic relationships with our reseller channel – that’s vital. From time to time I provide product training and CPD lectures to solicitors in conjunction with the channel across England and Wales – not as much as I used to because my team do more, but I really enjoy it. It’s great for me to get out there and speak to conveyancers about their concerns and it pushes the Groundsure message too.”

How long have you been with Groundsure?

“For just over eight years now – I joined as a business development manager; then I became a strategic account manager and from there I was promoted to senior strategic account manager and then Head of Channel. Groundsure promotes staff within where possible – obviously there are certain situations where we look for people externally but, on the whole, we try to promote within. It’s the people that give Groundsure its energy – amazing people, fantastic products and a great service!”

With one day to go until the conference, have you written your talk?

“Yes, all finalised – I’ve organised my slides and sent it over for approval. It should be good!”
