Sales received for registration rise in October
Price Paid Data from HM Land Registry sets out the details of residential and commercial land and property sales in England and Wales.
During October, 101,008 sales were lodged for registration, representing a month on month rise of 3,906.
Of those that received registration, 74,649 were freehold, growing by 9% since October last year. New builds, in contrast, saw a decline in their share of October registrations, with the proportion falling by 8.5% to 11,949.
The types of property that made up sales received for registration last month are as follows:
- 26,394 were terraced
- 25,558 were semi-detached
- 22,849 were detached
- 19,048 were flats/maisonettes
- 7,159 were classed as other
In October 2017, the most expensive residential sale took place in the City of Westminster, where a flat sold for £15,750,000.
The cheapest, however, occurred in Bishop Auckland in County Durham, where a terraced property sold for £18,500.
Commercially speaking, the most expensive sale during October 2017 took place in the City of Westminster, for £148,922,635.
The cheapest commercial sale occurred for £100 in Taunton Deane in Somerset.
