Marketing for conveyancers

Safe Move Scheme claims its first fraud prevention scalp

The Safe Move Scheme say they have prevented their first case of fraud after their client received a phishing email.

Safe Move Scheme say the client had received an email claiming to be from their conveyancers RG Solicitors advising them of updated bank details.

The Safe Move Scheme, a product developed by BE Consultancy aims to prevent property buyers having their deposits fraudulently redirected into the hands of criminals.

Before transferring funds the client checked the new details against those held by The Safe Move Scheme who advised them to decline these instructions as the details did not match those of RG Solicitors.

The Safe Move Scheme offer a live alert system for purchasers, conveyancer and lenders to make them aware of any fraudulent attempts to divert funds.

Matt Gillies, the Managing Partner of RG Solicitors, said: “Whilst we provide every possible level of security, we know from The Safe Move Scheme that hackers actually attack our client’s emails and devices rather than our systems.

“We are extremely proud to be the first conveyancers to prevent one of these crimes occurring using The Safe Move Scheme and we will continue to recommend it to all of our clients as the proven benchmark for preventing this type of crime.”

The Safe Move Scheme has reported this attempted fraud to Action Fraud.
