Runnett and Co conveyancers acquired again

Runnett and Co, the large conveyancing business operating out of Bridgend in South Wales, has been acquired by Countrywide Conveyancing Services the conveyancing wing of Countrywide plc, the UK’s largest integrated property services group.

A notice on their website states The Bridgend business of Runnett Property Lawyers was acquired by Countrywide Conveyancing Services on the 14th February 2014.
This business has changed hands a number of times in recent years with Harry Hill acquiring it using the In-Deed plc business before disposing of it back to the management team a few months later.
Commenting on the acquisition, Alyn North, Group Professional Services Director, Countrywide plc, said:

“We are delighted to have acquired the Bridgend office of leading property law firm Runnett & Co.   As one of the largest UK transactional conveyancing businesses, this is a significant strategic acquisition for Countrywide Conveyancing Services and one which will give us added momentum to capitalise on the recovering housing market. All of the 35 employees from the Bridgend office of Runnett & Co will transfer to Countrywide Conveyancing Services and we look forward to welcoming them to the team.

“We are serious about growing both organically and through acquisition to expand the business allowing us meet increasing demand while giving us significant scale and reach in the South Wales employment market.  Due to increasing demand for our services, we have recruited a significant number of people to our Cardiff office and at the end of 2013 launched our Trainee Property Lawyer Programme. A further intake of trainee lawyers will take place over the coming months, recruiting into our Manchester, Cardiff and now Bridgend offices.”
In recent months a number of large conveyancing businesses have changed hands including Barnetts.
