NHBC Building Inspector Becomes Landmark 500th To Achieve NVQ Award

NHBC, the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK, has awarded a North-East based Building Inspector its 500th NVQ – the equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

NHBC has allowed furloughed staff the opportunity to continue learning opportunities during the lockdown.

The 500th Building Inspector to have completed the course is Matt Childerley, who is based in County Durham. Matt, who has been with NHBC for two years, decided to complete the Senior Site Inspection NVQ Diploma – Level 6 course to help continue his development during his time on furlough.

He said:

“Along with many others I had extra time on my hands and wanted to put it to good use. I am very pleased to have completed it and would recommend it to anyone looking to expand their existing knowledge.

“I very much look forward to getting back on site as soon as it is safe to do so.”

NHBC’s, Training Industry Manager, Geoff Mann added:

“I am pleased that Matt has become our 500th building inspector to have completed an NVQ, particularly during this challenging time.

“It is important for us to practice what we preach by not only encouraging our builder customers to become qualified, but also offer the same opportunity to our own inspectors through this award.”
