Leeds based Direct Conveyancing company creates 160 new jobs

A Leeds-based direct conveyancing company has this week opened a new office at The Maltings in Hull announcing 160 new vacancies.

Established in 2000, Enact Conveyancing handles one in four remortgage conveyancing transactions and also helps thousands of people to move home each year. Since it was established, it has processed over 1.2 million transactions.

To accommodate its growth, the company has expanded its operations from West to East Yorkshire, choosing Hull as the location for its second office.

Ben Carroll, Managing Director at Enact, explains the reason for choosing Hull: “The city is buoyant following its year as the UK City of Culture and we wanted to help bring business, investment and new opportunities to Hull, as well as tap into the talent here to establish our new team.”

The company employs more than 530 people at its head office in Leeds and has begun to recruit 160 staff members to its new Hull team, with 29 employees already recruited who started work this week.

Ben added: “We pride ourselves on delivering a professional and personalised service. In order to continue to deliver this, we needed to expand the business and take on more staff as our popularity amongst mortgage lenders and consumers continues to grow. Our team is what has always set us apart from the rest. We’re renowned within the industry for having one of the most comprehensive and complete conveyancing training programmes, which ensures that each member of our team is an expert in their field.”

Developing staff is integral to the company, which is why it operates an innovative Conveyancing Academy, a robust training initiative in which staff members receive comprehensive legal training alongside invaluable on-the-job learning.

The recruitment programme aims to have all 160 jobs, including legal assistants, team leaders, conveyancers and customer service advisors, filled by the end of the year.

The new team will be based in a 10,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art office at Anchor House in Silvester Street. These fully refurbished offices form part of the unique Maltings office complex, the former home of the Hull Brewery company, in the heart of Hull city centre.

Martin Procter, who has secured one of the first roles at Enact’s new office as Customer Service Team Leader commented, “I’m delighted to be joining Enact at this exciting phase in its growth. The new office is amazing – a good mix of history and ultra-modern amenities – I think it will attract a lot of people who are looking for a more rewarding working environment.”
