The Manchester office of Laytons Solicitors has confirmed the appointment of Liz Braude as Partner in its Private Client team.

Liz joins from Pannone part of Slater & Gordon where she was Partner and Head of Wills and Estate Planning. A high-profile specialist in trust law and succession planning for businesses, Liz advises on all aspects of inheritance tax, wills, and LPAs.

Liz is also well known for advising parents of children with special needs who require specialist advice in relation to their estate planning.

In her new role, Liz and Private Client Partner Steven Appleton will combine their deep experience and expertise to grow and develop the firm’s Private Client practice group in Manchester.

Steven deals with most aspects of private client law, including wills, trusts, tax planning, power of attorney, court of protection and estate administration, but specialises in advising business owners on their estate planning strategy. He also works with high net worth clients with complex affairs.

Ian Burman, who heads up the firm’s national Private Client team, said: “We’re extremely pleased that Liz has decided to join the Private Client team at Laytons. She is a well-respected practitioner with specialist niche skills and great depths of experience behind her. Her knowledge and expertise will be a real boost to the Private Client team and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact that she has on the practice.

“Steven and Liz have very complementary skill sets. Their significant abilities and expertise create a formidable combination which will really benefit and add value to our clients. It’s fantastic to have this calibre of specialist knowledge in a practice area which we feel addresses a particular need in the Manchester market.”

Laytons has also broadened its Corporate Commercial team, appointing Rohit Fogla as a Consultant Assistant Solicitor. Rohit joins from Manchester-based corporate and commercial boutique Gunnercooke LLP. Originally from India, Rohit is qualified to practice as an Advocate in India as well as a Solicitor in England and Wales and has experience of Private Equity, Banking and Mergers and Acquisitions.

Barney Leaf, Partner in Laytons Corporate and Commercial practice, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Rohit on board. He is a talented and skilled practitioner whose international experience gives him broad levels of insight and a global commercial awareness that provides valuable context on transactions of all sizes.”

Liz Braude’s appointment follows that of Andrew Gosnay, who joined Laytons as National Head of Banking and Finance from Pannone earlier this year. Andrew leads Laytons’ team of specialist banking and finance lawyers and operates from the firm’s Manchester office.
