Law Society issues practice note offering online guidance

The Law Society have issued a new practice note to help solicitors responsible for their firm’s online presence or marketing.

It illustrates the importance of protecting and maintaining online reputation pointing out that online reputation, whether personal or corporate, can be damaged in a number of ways.

The note describes steps that should be taken to help build and monitor a positive online reputation.

They make the point that your online reputation is important even for those firms that have not been involved in online activity.

It could be that others have already posted content about you/your practice. It is important to control your own brand in order to avoid anyone else controlling it on your behalf.

This guidance includes information both about how to build a reputation online and factors to consider if responding to criticism online.
