Law firm welcomes New Partner In London Leasehold Enfranchisement Team

A leading national law firm has appointed a new partner to its London Leasehold Enfranchisement and Residential Property team.

Leigh Shapiro joins Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth from Trowers & Hamlins, also in London, where she was a managing associate with over 10 years of experience as a solicitor.

As a leasehold enfranchisement specialist, Leigh is well-versed in handling all aspects of leasehold reform law, tenants’ rights of first refusal, right to manage claims, and residential landlord and tenant legislation including contentious Tribunal work. Leigh is also an honorary consultant for the Federation of Private Residents’ Associations.

Leigh joins the award-winning Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth team, in which the residential property team works closely with its colleagues in the Tax, Trust and Estates, Family and Will, Trust and Estate Disputes teams for a full range of clients.

The residential property team recently saw changes to its structure with Jeremy Raj appointed as National Head of Residential Property in November 2017, following his arrival to the firm in September 2017.

Chris Baker, partner and Head of Leasehold Enfranchisement and Residential Management at Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Leigh to the team. Leasehold enfranchisement is a very specialist and complex area and so to recruit someone of such high calibre significantly strengthens the base we are continuing to grow in the residential property sector.

“Having another partner based in London as part of the expanding enfranchisement team as well as part of the wider residential property team will be a great asset both to the firm and to our clients, as we will be able to provide them with an even more comprehensive service. It’s an exciting time for Irwin Mitchell Private Wealth and I’m sure Leigh will settle in nicely to her new position in the coming months.”
