Be Kind We Care Stress Management Webinar

Be Kind We Care Stress Management Webinar

The Be Kind We Care initiative will host its first free webinar on Wednesday 28th April 1pm-2pm. April is Stress Awareness Month and the session will focus on stress management, with guest speakers providing practical techniques for identifying symptoms in ourselves and others, managing stress, and ‘working back’ from potential burnout.

Webinar attendees will hear from experienced speakers on the topic; Angus Lyon, professional counsellor and author of ‘A Lawyer’s Guide to Wellbeing and Managing Stress’, and Hannah Beko, property lawyer, corporate trainer and speaker on stress management, happiness & authenticity.

The property sector, in particular, has experienced immense pressure over the past 12 months as a result of the SDLT holiday. In December 2020, a Today’s Conveyancer article revealed that many conveyancers were considering leaving the profession due to the stress caused by increased workloads and tight deadlines. This is in addition to pandemic-related stressors, including the impact on our home and work lives, lack of physical contact with family and friends and uncertainty about the virus and its projectory. However, issues with stress within the legal sector certainly pre-date the pandemic. LawCare cites stress as the most common reason for calls to its helpline and a 2019 report described stress as ‘endemic’ within the profession, with nearly two-thirds of solicitors surveyed reporting high levels of stress.

This webinar aims to provide practical advice for identifying and managing stress in our daily lives. Whilst both speakers have experience in the legal sector, this webinar is relevant to all those wishing to learn more about stress management, either for themselves or to assist others.
