JMW Solicitors LLP conveyancers see a rise in enquiries

Following a rise in activity in the housing market, JMW Solicitors LLP have taken on a further conveyancing specialist to the residential conveyancing department.
Michael Purvis has joined the residential conveyancing team as an Associate.  He previously worked at Gorvins and spent three years at HL Interactive.  The department is led by Partner Andrew Garvie.  The new appointment comes at a time where the department has seen a 96% rise in instructions compared to last year.  Many of these instructions have come through the firm’s website.  The end of the stamp duty holiday for first time buyers has not affected the increase in property instructions.  The firm has also noticed an increase in buy-to-let investors, attracted by low interest rates and high rental yields.  The team is also dealing with a number of cases involving repossessions, although they believe that optimism is returning to the property market.
Andrew Garvie, head of Residential Conveyancing at JMV commented:
“We are delighted to welcome Michael to our team as he knows the market well and will help strengthen JMW’s reputation in residential conveyancing.  We are already seeing an increase in activity with historically low interest rates and a general appetite from the public to get moving again.  Our overall instructions are up considerably compared to this time last year.”
Andrew has recently been involved in the purchase of a city centre apartment in Manchester by a first time buyer after appearing on Channel 4 programme Location Location Location.
The rise in optimism in the property market is encouraging, and hopefully should carry on into the next quarter as interest rates remain low.
