Homebuyer Communication Processes Criticised

Recent claims have suggested that homebuyers are confused by traditional methods of communication from multiple property professionals during a residential property purchase.

In an hour long chat with Chris Harris of Today’s Conveyancer, Mick Silver of Moovshack said that estate agents, conveyancers, mortgage brokers, removal companies and utilities all engage with home movers from the moment they start to consider their moving process.

This leaves consumers having to cope with a plethora of information stored in different ways.

Mick feels that communication for consumers should be a much more integrated and easy for consumers to access.

He went on to explain that consumers have moved faster than property professionals in the adoption of technology to enable them to communicate effectively. It is now common practice for consumers and estate agents to use Whatsapp for communication when actually as a tool it isn’t designed to be used in a GDPR and business compliant way.  The demand for this style of communication is client led and agents are having to catch up.

Moovshack is trying to plug this gap and will shortly launch a portal service to consumers which will allow them to freely value their properties, list them with estate agents and go on to communicate and track the whole process to completion including communication with conveyancers, utility companies and removers.

The app will enable buyers and sellers to “chat” via agents in a digital service but also communicate with conveyancers.

What does this mean for conveyancers? 

Essentially by using the app a consumer will be able to use a messaging service within the app that will be communicated by email to the conveyancer.  If you reply to that email the response will be sent to the app in a messenger/chat style format.

The benefits for the consumer are that all communication with many property professionals can be stored in one place for the consumer.

Whilst Moovshack are presently only working directly with My Home Move there is an intention to allow other firms to join the service directly and appear within the system to help conveyancers gain new work and market their services as well as engage in the communication aggregation service.

With over 200 estate agents registering their interest in this service pre-launch conveyancers might start to see this new consumer communication process appearing in their email inboxes in the coming months.

    Stating the ********** obvious as Basil would say. I can remember consumers saying this 50 years.

    Lets stop flaffing about with sticking plaster and go radical.

    Replace chains with home broking where only large financial institutions

    *may sell to occupiers,

    * must buy in any buyer’s existing property and

    *provide a single, comprehensive, insurance backed report giving all the information an
    informed buyer needs in a readable form .

    The first step should be setting a taxonomy of all the information an informed buyer needs
    have
