Extension to Pracitising Certificate renewals

Extension to Pracitising Certificate renewals

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has revealed that they have extended the renewal window for the Practising Certifiate until 20 November 2020.

A statement on the SRA website revealed:

“We have decided to extend the practising certificate renewal window until 20 November.

“This year we are running renewals on a new IT system and with new telephony, which has been particularly challenging against the backdrop of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on us as well as on the profession. Although renewal has been straightforward for most applicants, there have been teething problems which have hampered some firms at a time when they are already managing a range of other pressures. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

“The extension will give the profession longer to complete the process at what is a difficult time for everyone.

“We are writing to those who have not yet started their renewal application to let them know about the extension and to assist anyone who has experienced problems. Our helplines are fully available to speak to applicants who are having problems.”
