Conveyancing Association meets with Council of Mortgage Lenders to promote links with lenders

The Conveyancing Association kicks off lender engagement programme

The Conveyancing Association (CA) is today hosting its second All-Members Meeting of 2015, welcoming guest speaker, Paul Smee the Director General of the Council for Mortgage Lenders (CML).

The event is the latest initiative from the CA to improve the home moving process, by considering how conveyancers and lenders can communicate more effectively to reduce delays for clients.

The meeting, which is kindly being sponsored by Groundsure, will aim to help the CA engage with the lender community specifically and to initiate a dialogue around the hurdles that currently prevent conveyancers and lenders from being able to carry out their respective roles both swiftly and smoothly during a home purchase or sale.

It follows a survey, run by the CA earlier in the year, which asked members to highlight the areas or stages of the transaction process they currently find problematic when it comes to lender engagement – and designed to prompt an open, two-way discussion on these issues with lenders.

Eddie Goldsmith, Chairman of the Conveyancing Association, said:

“The relationship between lenders and conveyancers is a tremendously important one and facilitating communication between the two parties will have a significant and very positive effect on not only our own but our client’s experience of buying or selling a home.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming Paul to our All-Members Meeting and to hearing his views on the existing relationship between conveyancers and lenders and how this can be improved. We look forward to continuing this dialogue with both the CML and lenders as part of the CA’s engagement programme.”
