Conveyancing Association All-Members Meeting drives improvements to the leasehold process
The Conveyancing Association (CA) will this week host its third All-Members Meeting of 2015, bringing together government and industry leaders to discuss what can be done to improve leasehold transactions and give those purchasing leasehold properties greater rights.
The roundtable event, which is due to take place in London on Thursday 1st October, will aim to address issues identified by CA members, which revealed that 51% of conveyancers found the leasehold sales process to be a regular problem, with a particular concern about the impact this had on customers, the delays within the process and the charges involved in obtaining critical information.
The aim of the session will be to discuss how these problems can be remedied. Those present at the meeting will include senior representatives from the Law Society, the Department for Communities and Local Government and the Society of Licensed Conveyancers.
The meeting, which is sponsored by Search Acumen and Groundsure, builds on the recent publication of the Conveyancing Association’s Leasehold Solutions Guide. For the first time all the current solutions available to the conveyancing practitioner and their client when leasehold issues arise have been brought together in one easy to follow checklist. The CA has also been involved in joint initiatives to improve the LPE1 Form as well as collecting client experiences.
