Butterworths re-launch firm following merger

North-West based Butterworths Solicitors has merged with Cinnamon Property Lawyers, the conveyancing firm based in Gateshead, expanding into the North East.
The firm is focusing on delivering key specialist transactional based services in the areas of property and financial litigation to business and individual consumers.
Following the merger Senior Partner Tony Butterworth will focus on the development of the firm’s niche specialist financial litigation practice.
John Cook, former Managing Director at Cinnamon and now Partner at Butterworths, will focus on the non-contentious side of the business, including residential conveyancing, commercial property, lender services and property portfolio management.
Tony Butterworth commented:
“Butterworths already has a strong presence in the North West with offices in Carlisle, Penrith and Bury.  However, expansion into the North East provides an opportunity to reach a market we’ve not previously tapped into.  Consolidation of our share in the North East conveyancing market built up by Cinnamon is our priority, as is development of niche litigation and commercial property services to ensure that Butterworths becomes the firm of choice for savvy consumers seeking high-quality, value-driven legal services.”
John Cook added:
“I am delighted that our team is coming to Butterworths at a time when the legal market is changing at a rapid rate.  Both existing residential teams can be proud of the work they have done in consolidating market share and I look forward to taking our residential conveyancing proposition forward, both in our local market, and nationally.  In addition we’ve already introduced some smart thinking commercial property services.  I’m looking forward to challenging some of the conventional wisdom of commercial property services to break with tradition for the benefit of our clients.”
