Beaumont Legal launches £150,000 training academy to nurture Yorkshire talent

Wakefield-based law firm Beaumont Legal has announced its investment in a new £150,000 Training Academy, to produce the next generation of quality legal professionals and advance the skills of those already working with the firm.
Yorkshire’s largest residential conveyancing firm, Beaumont Legal has had a highly successful past 18 months, as annual turnover passed £5 million and staff numbers almost trebled. With further growth planned and a recruitment drive in place to attract qualified and graduate staff, the Training Academy has been created to ensure client service levels remain consistently high as the business evolves.
Nick Masheder, Partner & Head of Conveyancing, said: “We have huge growth ambitions and as part of this it’s not only vital that we can attract the best recruits but also that we support them and help them advance within the firm. There are limited numbers of solicitor training contracts around, so we are looking at taking talented individuals into the business, investing in them and supporting them with our Training Academy to help them build their career and the firm. We want to provide the best quality and opportunity for graduates in the region.”
Along with a full induction programme, graduates joining the firm will complete five modules of the Training Academy within their first 12 months, with a further four modules over the next two years as they progress to potentially become a team leader. Those joining the firm with previous experience are automatically advanced to the module relevant to their level of expertise.
The Academy will also be used by existing members of staff, to refresh their skills, keep up-to date on industry best practise and be trained in the fast-moving improvements to the firm’s systems.
Sarah Thornton, the firm’s Training Manager, added: “With such a complex area ahead of them in conveyancing, there is a lot for new recruits to learn and we need to be absolutely sure they are competent and can experience all the different scenarios that can potentially arise in conveyancing. We feel it is vital to support the team to guide trainees through the process every step of the way.”
“The digital revolution has changed the way people access property services requirements and we’re constantly adapting our systems to help make things easier for all our clients. Ensuring our trainees are fully up to speed on the latest issues in real time is vital for our customers and the Training Academy will aid this.”
