Winner Spotlight: Muve

Winner Spotlight: Best Direct to Consumer Offering

On Tuesday 25th May 2021, professionals from across the conveyancing sector came together to celebrate the successes and achievements of the industry at The British Conveyancing Awards 2021.

The inaugural awards took to the virtual stage, and were led by the fabulous award winning broadcaster and journalist Samira Ahmed. If you want a re-cap of the action, the recording is available to view here.

As part of our winner spotlight features, we want to shine a light on those who have been crowned in first place at this year’s event.

Today we profile Muve who won Best Direct to Consumer Offering.

About the award

Covid-19 has forced more consumers online in their search for home moving services resulting in many firms focusing on a direct to consumer offering. This category recognises those firms that can successfully demonstrate how their direct to consumer offering positively impacts on their business now and moving forward.

The firm must demonstrate over the last 12 months:

  • An innovative approach in their model
  • How their direct offering contributes to their overall business
  • The positive impact of a direct offering to enhance the customer experience
  • The sustainability of their direct to consumer offering in 2021 and beyond

Muve were commended by the judges, who stated:

“Great entry, I loved the intuitive approach and was impressed by how the offering contributes to the success of the business overall.”

Fishers Solicitors were highly commended in this category, with MyHomeMove Conveyancing securing third spot.

We spoke to David Jabbari, CEO of Muve shortly after he found out the results.

How did you feel winning the Best Direct to Consumer Offering award?

Really over the moon about this. We are avid followers of Today’s Conveyancer and really wanted to support the new BCA, so it is wonderful and very unexpected to be a winner.  Our winning category is really important to us in terms of our D2C ambition for Muve.

Tell us about your team and the services you provide

We have a great team focused exclusively on residential conveyancing. We like to innovate. We don’t see conveyancing as a ‘one size fits all’ product and this is why we have developed our MuveFirst and MuveForward services with the possibility of a MuveFast upgrade for those needing to hit an exchange deadline.

How has your firm developed in the last 14 months and navigated the added complexity of the coronavirus pandemic and SDLT holiday?

It has been a period of intense growth, with revenues in 2020 up 70% on the prior year and 2021 looking even stronger. When many firms started to turn away work, we decided to invest in growth and capacity.

What’s next on the cards for you?

Essentially it is more of the same – more growth and more expansion. We think it possible we will be a top 5 conveyancing firm by early 2022 which given our founding date in 2016 is a great achievement. The next 12 months is all about one thing: our customers. We are fixated on providing exceptional service and will be investing heavily in this.

What advice would you give someone thinking of joining the conveyancing sector?

Do it! It is fast-paced and you have to be highly organised. If you have the right skills you can develop a great career and be highly sought after by law firms.  It is also a highly professional role where clients respect your knowledge (most of the time!).

This is the very first British Conveyancing Awards, which recognises the herculean efforts of the industry, why do you think these awards are so important, especially after the last 14 months?

Hats off to the organisers of the BCA. This is just what we in the profession needed after these dark times: a chance to celebrate our sector.  It is very good also that the range of the awards recognises the vital importance of mental health and well being in our work. The awards and those who took part show the great fighting spirit of the UK legal profession which, once again, demonstrates its vital importance to the UK economy.

Everyone at Today’s Conveyancer congratulates all those who entered this year’s awards.
