“We have been humbled by the interest and support we have received from the sector since announcing the awards. We know how exceptionally hard the conveyancing sector has been working over recent months and we wanted to take this opportunity to recognise that hard work. Many people will look back over the last 12 months with a sense of nostalgia at some point and we think it’s important that we distinguish what people and businesses in the sector have achieved during that period. As one of hundreds of movers for whom the misery of late key release is a constant, and penetrating reminder (over decades) about the gross incompetence and carelessness of conveyancers, I’d suggest another category (or a few).

‘conveyancer that actually understands most how to do the actual things they’re paid for. Properly’

‘conveyancer that consistently doesn’t destroy moving day for clients by being capable and caring enough to ensure key release by 2pm.’

‘conveyancer that empathises most with movers who are often young men with young families for whom home life is ruined due to the idiocy of other conveyancers. Conveyancers who think others should consistently work 14hour days due to their horrific lack of care or urgency.’

‘conveyancer that understands most that their clients don’t want the misery and angst of waiting for hours just to get keys to their new house’

Maybe if your ‘profession’ could get it’s act together and stop making life a misery on a daily basis for tens of thousands of people you’d deserve awards.

Frankly. Until such point you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Why don’t you ring some of the decent removal employees who are having their working lives made miserable by your lack of competence. Maybe tell them all about your awards?

    Sure that’ll go down well.

I’ve made a petition – will you sign it?
Click this link to sign the petition:
      https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/580281/sponsors/new?token=al4e8Qp1uwrAihY_sLRF
      My petition:
End the misery of late key release on moving day. keys should be ready for 2pm.
Legislate that conveyancers who fail to ensure their clients have ownership and/or key release on or before 2pm are required to pay compensation via a fee discount to their client. Of 30%.
Every day thousands (yes thousands) of home movers suffer late key release. Good people sat in cars or cabs for hours. For no good reason. Families have what should be a wonderful day moving into a new homes ruined by conveyancers not getting completion
through on time. Hard working moving company staff have for years unfairly suffered days frequently up to 16hours in length. Where 4-6 hours of that was spent sat waiting for keys. With customers suffering too. Fair reform is LONG overdue.
