Applications to change or query Land Register grew in May

The latest data from HM Land Registry shows that applications to change or query the Land Register saw an uplift last month.

The data released by HMLR today (21/06/18) also shows that in addition to a monthly rise – from 1,625,098 in April to 1,723,578 – May’s figure was also up on the corresponding month last year by 102,768.

Of this month’s completed applications, 373,423 were applications to update the register, up from April’s total of 346,788.

Also seeing an increase, albeit more significant, was the number of applications for the official copy of the register, rising from 804,157 in April to 848,600 in May.

Official searches also grew month-on-month, increasing from 196,560 during April to 209,803 in May.

In contrast, postal applications actually experienced a monthly fall, dropping from 28,161 in April to 26,695 last month.

The region home to the highest number of applications was the South East at 398,029. Behind this was Greater London at 332,546 and the North West at 194,722.

Where local authority areas were concerned, Birmingham observed the greatest number of applications to query or change the register, with the figure standing at 26,902. The City of Westminster followed at 24,121 with Leeds in third place at 19,782.
