26% Fall In New Build Sales Received For Registration

The number of new build sales received for registration in January 2020 fell by over a quarter compared with the year earlier.

Of the 95,982 sales received for registration, 12,841 were for newly built properties, a 26.4 per cent reduction on the numbers from January 2019.

Whilst the total figure represented an increase on both November’s (92,152) and December’s (83,715) sales received for registration, the total number of freehold (72,266) property sales received for registration in January had fallen by 0.9 per cent annually.

When broken down by property type, 21,931 properties were detached, 25,205 sales received for registration were semi-detached, 25,648 were terraced and 17,090 flats or maisonette sales were registered in January.
