PSG share ongoing schedule of charitable events for 2016

As part of its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, PSG are delighted to share how its network have been supporting charitable organisations in 2016 and reveal plans for upcoming fundraising efforts for the rest of the year.

There have been a variety of sponsored walks, runs and cycling trials but the one event that really stands out as something completely different is the challenge undertaken by PSG Energy Operations Director Andrew Sagar.

Monte Carlo or Bust

At the end of July Andrew, along with a team of four friends, set out in a £300 banger car to take on the ‘Monte Carlo or Bust’ Driving Adventure.

The team travelled over 2100 miles from Barnsley to Monte Carlo and back again in a 1998 BMW 525 TDS Se with over a quarter of a million miles on the clock. The car had been off the road for the last two years and needed some TLC. However, after a new coil spring, gearbox intercooler radiator and a good service and MOT, the car was ready for its journey, raising an impressive £6,500 for four Yorkshire charities along the way. Prudential London 100

On the 31st July, Nick Wild from PSG’s Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire office took part in the Prudential London 100. This 100-mile bike ride follows the 2012 Olympic Route which runs from the Olympic Park through the hills of Surrey to the finish line at The Mall at St James’s Park, in front of Buckingham Palace. Despite a few setbacks, being stung by a hornet and the route being cut short by 8 miles due to an accident, Nick completed the course well within the 9-hour time limit.

Nick choose to raise funds for Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people. Its work is crucial in helping to find solutions to end homelessness by delivering life-changing services and campaigning for change. Current donations stand at a total of £1000.

Richard Dawson, Group Managing Director for PSG commented: “The PSG network is in a unique position when it comes to fundraising. Having 49 offices means that we can support lots of different charities all over England and Wales in a variety of events throughout the year. It’s wonderful to see the effort that goes into organising these events, many of them extremely challenging. I would like to congratulate Andrew, Nick and all the other PSG fundraisers on their efforts.”

Upcoming events include PSG Connect Ltd.’s Business Development Director, Stephen Murray tackling the Holme Valley Mountain Bike Challenge and PSG Brighton and Southampton’s Chris Green, who will be taking part in the Chichester Legal Walk in September raising funds for The Citizens Advice Bureaux in South & West Sussex and Havant & Sussex Legal Services.
