HMRC have informed councils that VAT will not be charged on council searches from 1st February, Today’s Conveyancer understands.
Implementation has been delayed for an unspecified length of time.
In correspondence to members of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) committee, HMRC said: “Implementation will be delayed for a short period.
“We will give you reasonable notice of the revised implementation date in due course”
