Sheila Kumar, Chief Executive of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, says:
“I have now been working full time as Chief Executive of the CLC for a little over three weeks. One of the top issues for me in these early days is the attitude of some lenders to instructing licensed conveyancers and having them on panels.
“I believe that regulation by the CLC provides lenders with a guarantee of standards and probity that is at least equal to that of other regulators of legal services and of quality schemes that have sprung up in recent years. I am arranging a series of meetings with individual lenders as well as the Council for Mortgage Lenders and the Building Societies Association to try to understand and address any concerns they might have.”
