SLC conference line-up announced

The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) has announced the line-up for its annual conference on Wednesday 21st November this year, in Derby.

Nearly 150 conveyancers attended last year’s event and organisers have organised more presentations and interactive sessions this year to engage delegates.

The conference is entitled ‘What’s New – The Changing Property Environment’ and aims to offer attendees an industry update, as well as tackling some of the current challenges facing the profession.

There will be presentations from the National House Building Council (NHBC), Ordnance Survey and the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

CLC Chief Executive June Mulroy will talk about Alternative Business Structures (ABS), whilst Chief Land Registrar Malcolm Dawson will set out some of the future plans for the Land Registry.

The Building Societies Association’s (BSA’s) Paul Broadhead will provide an update on the latest state of play regarding lenders’ panels.

John Clay, Chairman, Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) said: “The feedback from last year’s conference highlighted that there is a real appetite from our members to have access to a dedicated annual event, which really looks to explore and address the challenges facing our industry.

“Ever retracting lenders’ panels, the introduction of ABS as well as the potential impact of the Government’s Green Deal on future property transactions are all issues that need to be addressed.”

Mr Clay encourages those planning on attending to book now so they don’t miss out.

During the afternoon session, the SLC will also be providing attendees with an update on the latest progress of its lender panel solution, SLC Quality Assured (SLCQA).

The conference, which is being supported by Gold Sponsor PSG will run between 9:30 am and 5:00pm – a lunch will be provided for all delegates.

The conference is free to SLC members. For non SLC members there will be a charge of £100 per person (refundable for Licensed Conveyancers that join the SLC at the event).

Six CPD points will be available for every attendee.
