New Chairman for SLC

New Chairman for SLC

The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) has announced the appointment of a new Chairman.

Existing SLC board member, Simon Law, will replace John Clay with immediate effect, who has taken the decision to step down as Chairman after eight years in the role.

Simon Law said: “It is an exciting time to be taking up the role as Chairman and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.

“There is no doubt that as conveyancers, we are facing increased pressures. However, as the professional body for Licensed Conveyancers, the SLC has a significant role to play in helping to support the continued growth and development of our profession.

“It is important that we are continually adapting and innovating to meet the changing needs of both the consumer and the wider industry and I look forward to working closely with our members to ensure we are all in a strong position for the future.”

John Clay said he had enjoyed his role as Chairman, during a time of significant change for the profession.

He said: “Over the last year in particular, we have seen the SLC re-launched with new vigour and we have already made some significant achievements, from the development of our lender panel solution to the launching of a new ordering platform for members.

“However, while I will continue to sit on the SLC board, I felt now was the right time to hand over the reins to a new Chairman."

He added: “I believe he will play an important part in driving the Society forward over the coming years and I wish him every success in his new role.”
