Marsh & Parsons enhances senior management team with appointment of top retail executive

Marsh & Parsons has significantly strengthened its management team by appointing retail high-flyer Helen Sachdev to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Having opened four branches in 2014, the estate agency continues to open new offices, with Shoreditch due to open mid-February. Bolstered by strong trading throughout 2014 despite the difficult conditions in London, expansion for the brand remains high on its agenda.

Helen joins from Barclays where she spent eight years, most recently as Managing Director of UK Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions. Prior to that she oversaw the bank’s network strategy and operations and was responsible for the rebranding overhaul of its 1,700 branch estate.

Before joining Barclays, Helen spent five years as Planning and Design Director at Tesco throughout the strongest period of the supermarket’s growth. During her time there, she was responsible for design, concept development and business initiatives and supported the growth of formats such as Express and Extra as well as Tesco’s diversification into non-food areas.

Helen began her career at Sainsbury’s and spent more than a decade with the retail giant, the highlight of which was the development of the convenience store format in the shape of Sainsbury’s Local.

She sits on the UK board of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has used her extensive experience to act as a coach and mentor to other female executives.

Peter Rollings, Chief Executive Officer of Marsh & Parsons, said:

“It is indicative of Marsh & Parsons’ direction that we have been able to attract an individual of Helen’s calibre to our senior management team. We have ambitious plans to keep growing our branch network, and Helen’s appointment will ensure we continue providing the best possible service for home buyers and sellers, landlords and tenants. She brings extensive experience of managing and overhauling some of the UK’s most well-known retail giants and I am confident that she can help take Marsh & Parsons to the next level, and further our high-street recognition.”

Helen Sachdev, Chief Operating Officer at Marsh & Parsons, comments:

“It is an opportune time to be joining Marsh & Parsons and I am excited by its intentions to strengthen its reputation as London’s premier estate agency. It has long been established in London’s traditional prime heartland, but putting down roots in new, up and coming areas such as Camden and Shoreditch is an exciting new chapter for the brand.

“Marsh & Parsons has a long and proud history and while being respectful of these traditions, I will also be looking at ways that its name and branch network can stay relevant as the way people buy and sell property continues to evolve.”
