Land Registry update on electronic document service

At the beginning of December the Land Registry launched new electronic Document Registration Service (e-DRS), allowing conveyancers to send and receive the majority of their applications to change the register electronically.

Since the launch over 700 customers have signed up to the service, with more than 47,000 applications submitted to change the register.

We asked the Land Registry how the service had been received so far and they said that early feedback from customers indicates that e-DRS is reliable and quicker than the post, cuts down on their business costs and is helping to drive efficiencies.

They have included a number of testimonials on their website.

They said they are unaware of any issues so far but are currently running a short feedback survey for authorised users of the service which includes questions on usability.

Malcolm Dawson Chief Executive, Land Registry said: “e-DRS is the next step in the development of our online services.

“It’s designed to work with, rather than demand changes in, the way our customers do business.

“Our aim over the next few years’ is to build on this development and to reach a position whereby customers are able to lodge every form of application with us online.

“We want our e-services to fit more closely and intuitively with customers’ own systems and processes, and ensure they truly meet their needs.”

All of Land Registry’s professional customers can apply to join a customer team, irrespective of the number of transactions they do with the Land Regsitry

How are you finding the service so far? Do you find it an improvement on the postal system?
