Land Registry to close telephone ordering services

The Land Registry has announced that it will be closing the Land Registry telephone ordering services and changing Land Charges legislation.

The decision follows a consultation which took into account the views of all respondents.

The services will be replaced with online technology which will make applications faster and easier.

The legislation will come into force on 17 December 2012 and the telephone ordering services will close at the same time.

The changes follow increased demand for online services which the Land Registry say are continuing to improve and expand.

Remand for the telephone ordering services has dropped by 96 per cent which means it has been running at a financial loss.

The telephone enquiries service will remain available and customers will be able to continue calling their customer team or our Customer Support phone number as normal if they have general enquiries or queries about a particular case.

Online Business e-services can be accessed from 6.30am to 10pm during weekdays and between 7am and 5pm on Saturdays.

Sign-up to these services is free and Land Registry offers support for service users and online training.

Customers can sign up to our Business e-services immediately or if you would like to speak to someone about applying for Business e-services, call on 0844 892 1111 or email customersupport@landregistry.gsi.gov.uk.

More information is available in the Land Registry’s consultation section.
