Land Registry May House Price Index shows a 0.2% Decline – 28th June 2010

As the largest holder of residential property data in the country Land Registry has the largest data set to determine house price changes.
Land Registry stated that in the months December 2009 to March 2010, transaction volumes averaged 50,658 transactions per month. This is an increase from the same period last year, when sales were 32,009.  More recently monthly figures have yet to be compiled.
Whilst the annual rate of house price inflation continued a seven month trend where the annual figure has been positive with a result of 8.2% there was a month on month decline of 0.2%.
London had the greatest annual house price increase with the North East being the lowest. Taking into account monthly changes the East Midlands declined the most with a fall of 3.6%.
