Huge increase in traffic to search portals

Leading portals Zoopla and Rightmove have seen an increase in traffic of 64% over the last twelve months, meaning Zoopla, Rightmove and Primelocation now account for 59% of all online property traffic.

The latest data from independent web traffic monitoring firm Hitwise shows that the number of visits to the UK’s leading property portals owned by Zoopla Property Group (ZPG) and Rightmove has grown at a far faster rate than to all other property websites in the UK over the same period.

The figures reveal that Zoopla, Rightmove and Primelocation now account for 59% of all online property traffic, whilst the next 1,000 biggest property websites in the UK combined account for only 41% of the total property audience.

Amongst the big three Zoopla has continued to grow fastest over the last 12 months, with traffic to the portals up 76.3% since this time last year, compared to 57.8% for Rightmove.

Alex Chesterman, Founder & CEO, Zoopla Property Group said: "The latest figures from Hitwise show that online property consumers, just like in other verticals, want one-stop shops which can meet all their property search requirements and are increasingly turning to the major portals to do their market research and find their next home.

“We continue to grow our market share and will continue to invest in delivering the results that our members expect.”
