Five per cent of households in the UK plan to buy a property in the next year, according to a new survey.

The report, carried out by Ipsos Mori and Knight Frank, found that 7.9 per cent of households in the East of England intend to purchase property in the next 12 months, while 7.7 per cent in the east Midlands plan to, and 6.9 per cent plan to in London.

However, in the north east of England and Scotland, only 2.1 percent of households plan to move in the next year.
