Co-operative engage PR firm

The legal arm of the Co-operative (CLS), has appointed Fishburn Hedges to help raise awareness of the firm.

The firm was the first consumer brand to gain alternative business structure status (ABS) under the new Legal Services Act.

They are yet to confirm what the status will mean for their conveyancing offering.

However the engagement of a PR certainly shows they are keen to increase their legal services customer base.

Judith Moore, director at Fishburn Hedges, will lead the account. She said: “CLS is leading the way in transforming the way legal services are delivered in this country, providing customers with greater accessibility to expert legal advice and better value for money.

“We’re delighted to have been appointed to help them launch the Co-op’s family legal services offer, as well as drive awareness of the other products and services it offers.”

Russ Brady, head of group public relations at the Co-operative Group, said: “We’re looking to completely change the way UK consumers can access the law and we want to ensure that our compelling message is heard loud and clear.

“The Co-operative’s core values of trust, openness and honesty means that we are ideally placed to help consumers at what are often the most challenging times of their lives.

“I believe that Fishburn Hedges’ experience of working with high profile consumer brands complements the expertise of our in-house team and together we can deliver a fully integrated PR programme that reflects our ambition of becoming the largest consumer law business in the country.”
